Frequently Asked Question
  1. Is Chichén Itzá open every day and what are the hours?

Yes—generally daily from 8:00–16:00 (last entry 16:00–16:30, site cleared ~17:30–18:00 on special operations like equinox). Always check official notices before you go. Book a timed tour from Cancun / Playa / Tulum with pickup.
  2. How much are Chichén Itzá tickets in 2025?

Tickets combine INAH + Yucatán/CULTUR fees. Typical totals quoted for foreigners are ~$648 MXN (adults). Policies for nationals/local residents differ. Our small-group tours handle tickets so you skip confusion and lines.
  3. Can you climb the pyramid at Chichén Itzá?

No. Climbing is prohibited to protect the site. Guided ground tours explain the architecture and astronomy safely.
  4. Are drones allowed at Chichén Itzá?

No drones (and “pro” filming gear needs prior INAH authorization). Protect the site and avoid fines—leave drones at the hotel.
  5. What’s the best time to see the “serpent” equinox effect?

Afternoons around 3:45–4:45 pm near the equinox dates (exact timing varies). If you’re not visiting on equinox, a morning arrival beats heat/crowds.
  6. How far is Chichén Itzá from Cancun?

About 125 miles / 200 km (≈ 2.5 hrs by toll road 180D) each way; traffic can add time. Consider a tour with hotel pickup and Valladolid/cenote stops.
  7. Is a guided tour worth it?

Yes—context, logistics, and cenote/Valladolid routing save time and improve the experience. We run small-group options from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum.
  8. Are there extra fees on top of my tour?

Many operators charge lockers/life vests and extra drinks on site; some list archaeological fees separately. Our listings spell out inclusions up front to avoid surprises.
  9. Is Chichén Itzá in a different time zone than Cancun?

Yes. Chichén Itzá (Yucatán) usually runs UTC-6; Cancun (Quintana Roo) uses UTC-5. Pickup times account for the difference.
  10. When is Chichén Itzá least crowded?

Early morning openings and non-holiday weekdays. Our itineraries aim for early arrival or smart routing to dodge peak heat and crowds.

11. Which cenote is best for photos?

Suytun (iconic platform + light beam) and Ik Kil (lush vines) are photo favorites. Want both in one day? Book Plus (Suytun & Ik Kil)

12. Which cenote has the rope swing?

Oxman features a popular rope swing in a dramatic circular sinkhole. Choose Classic (Oxman)

13. Family with kids—Classic or Plus?

For a single, easy swim with facilities, pick Classic (Oxman). For two short, photogenic swims, pick Plus

14. How deep are the cenotes? Is it safe for non-swimmers?

They are deep natural pools; life vests are available/required on site. Non-swimmers can join safely with vests.

15. Water temperature and clarity—what to expect?

Typically refreshing year-round; clarity varies with weather and footfall. Bring a microfiber towel and reef-safe sunscreen.

Amazing Cenotes experience

I went on the tour with the Maya Adrenaline’s tour operator, and it was just spectacular! I never ever had this unbelievable experience swimming in the cenotes and in the caves. My tour guide Pedro took me on the tour in the caves and talked about the Mayan history, we swim from one cave to the other, among the hundreds of stalactites and event stop at one cave to exfoliate the skin with the mineral powder from the stalactites. Pedro was extremely professional and new those caves very well, so I felt comfortable and enjoyed my tour a lot. I really recommend to have this experience to all who value some sense of adventure!

Mexico City. Adrenaline: atv+ zipline + horses + wall climbing

Awesome experience!

Incredible experience! I have to admit I was a bit nervous because there weren’t any reviews but I booked anyway with my best friend. It started off with my friend and I being wholly underprepared for the temperatures (our fault for not checking the climate beforehand) and our guide stopped at a clothing store for us to buy jackets.

When we made it, we were driven to a quaint town and our wonderful guide took us from activity to activity and waited for us while we went on our excursions. Ziplining was tons of fun but the highlights were definitely the horseback riding and ATV experiences through the mountains. Wonderful excursion and very well priced - I highly recommend!

Simply the best

Beautiful and beautiful experience, touring the archaeological zone of Cobá is fascinating, the explanations are very good, which helped us to better understand the Mayan culture, our guide was very attentive. The zip lines were very fun, the cenote was very beautiful and the water was very crystal clear. A true beauty of the Mexican Caribbean

Great fun

Our Guide, CJ was AMAZING! He made the experience so fun! Transportation to and from the meets ups were timely. We first did the ATV, zip lining, cenotes and then lunch. ATV was fun (pick solo over doubles unless you don’t care to be the driver); zip line was fun (I’m afraid of heights so I only did the shortest one); The cenote was so beautiful! CJ did a great job explaining the history of them to us as we floated through it.

Adventure

Going through the jungle in that ATV was great, a lot of fun, riding a horse in the jungle I had never done before, a good experience, our guide helped make it very fun and safe, especially if you have no experience with horses, the support helps a lot, What I loved the most of all were the zip lines, the food is good, especially the delicious Mayan beans, I recommend it
