What you’ll do on the Tulum Ruins & Cobá Adventure + Cenote Swim

This Tulum and Cobá tour visits two of the most important Mayan archaeological sites in one day, adds a swim in Labnaha cenote and a stop at a present-day Mayan village. It is a full-day guided trip from Tulum and Playa del Carmen for travelers who want to understand Mayan history, see Nohoch Mul pyramid and cool off in a cenote.

What you'll do

  • Start early from a Tulum meeting point, or get picked up in Playa del Carmen.
  • Walk through the Tulum archaeological zone to see its walls, temples and the Castle on the cliff above the Caribbean.
  • Drive through the jungle to Cobá, a large site still under study, where Nohoch Mul, the tallest pyramid on the Yucatán Peninsula, rises above the trees. A bicycle is included.
  • Learn from our guide how Tulum and Cobá were linked by ritual in the Post-Classic era.
  • Swim in Labnaha, a well-preserved cenote that was never opened with explosives.
  • Visit a present-day Mayan village and enjoy a Mexican buffet.

Who it's for

This tour is for travelers interested in Mayan history and culture who also want time in nature. It suits all fitness levels, and children from age 4 can join. Infants must sit on an adult's lap during transport, and service animals are allowed. If you want both the beach-side ruins of Tulum and the jungle pyramid of Cobá in one day, this tour covers both.

Send us your accommodation first. Not every address can be reached by our vehicles. Send your hotel or Airbnb to one of our advisors on WhatsApp and they will confirm whether we pick you up at the door or agree a meeting point nearby.

Your pickup time is not the tour start time. They are very different. We collect you well before activities begin, because the drive and the other pickups on the route take time. Your advisor gives you your exact pickup time when your booking is confirmed — go by that time, not by the departure hour shown on this page.
