What you’ll do on the Tulum Day Trip: Pyramids + Reef Snorkel & Cenote Swim

This Tulum ruins, reef snorkel and cenote tour combines a guided visit to the Mayan city on the cliffs above the Caribbean with snorkeling on a protected reef and a swim in a cave cenote. It is a half-day trip of about 5 hours for travelers staying in Tulum, Playa del Carmen or along the Riviera Maya who want history and nature in one morning.

What you'll do

  • Meet us at a Tulum meeting point at 8:45 AM, or get picked up earlier in Playa del Carmen and along the Riviera Maya.
  • Walk through the Tulum ruins with a bilingual guide who explains Mayan history and the ceremonial buildings.
  • Put on full snorkel gear and swim over a protected reef with colorful fish and coral.
  • Head into the forest to a freshwater cenote inside a cave, a sacred Mayan site, for a quiet swim.
  • Enjoy local snacks and drinks before returning to your hotel or meeting point.

If you prefer not to snorkel, choose the no-snorkel option: instead of the reef, you spend that time at a Tulum beach with bathrooms, lounge chairs and food and drinks to order.

Send us your accommodation first. Not every address can be reached by our vehicles. Send your hotel or Airbnb to one of our advisors on WhatsApp and they will confirm whether we pick you up at the door or agree a meeting point nearby.

Your pickup time is not the tour start time. They are very different. We collect you well before activities begin, because the drive and the other pickups on the route take time. Your advisor gives you your exact pickup time when your booking is confirmed — go by that time, not by the departure hour shown on this page.
